Hereford Register Office

Hereford Register Office is at Gardner Hall, Venns Lane, Hereford HR1 1DT.

Our office opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.

Directions

If you are approaching from Aylestone Hill, we are on the left hand side just past the Venns Lane Care Home. If you are approaching from College Road, we are on the right hand side just past St Francis Xavier's Primary School. There is limited free parking on site. If the car park is full, there is some street parking available but parking restrictions apply.

Public transport

The 81B bus route stops directly outside the Register Office (ThePoint4 stop) and runs approximately hourly on weekdays from the City Centre. Hereford Rail Station is approximately 20 minutes walk away.

Services

If you are registering a birth, death, stillbirth or notice of marriage or civil partnership, you will need to make an appointment:

  • Most births and notice appointments can be made using our online register office booking form.
  • Staff from the Register Office will contact you to make death registration appointments.
  • For any other appointments, please contact us using the details at the bottom of the page.

You can order copy certificates online or you can order over the phone and select option 1. Most certificates are posted. If you choose to collect your certificates, these will normally be collected from our certificate production office at the Town Hall in the centre of Hereford.

Ceremonies

Our statutory ceremonies take place at 9.30am each day Mondays to Thursdays only (except bank holidays). These are basic ceremonies with the couple, the registrars and two witnesses only. Please do not attend with any additional guests, as they will not be permitted access.

Citizenship ceremonies take place once a month at the Register Office and are on Monday afternoons.

Gardner Hall is also an approved venue to hold marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, with rooms for up to 70 guests.
