At Trewen Meadows, we believe horses can make a real difference to people’s lives. We provide therapeutic riding, ground-based activities and Hippotherapy for disabled people, people with additional needs and disadvantaged groups across Herefordshire and the surrounding areas.
Our work harnesses the physical, emotional and social benefits of working with horses to improve wellbeing, confidence, mobility and quality of life. Sessions are tailored to each individual, creating a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment where people can build confidence and experience a real sense of achievement.
Therapeutic riding sessions
Tailored riding sessions support balance, core strength, posture, coordination and mobility, while also helping to build confidence, independence and self-esteem. For many participants, simply connecting with a horse and achieving something new can be hugely empowering.
Hippotherapy
Hippotherapy is specialised physiotherapy delivered on horseback by Vicky Fudge, our experienced physiotherapist, who is HCPC registered and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
It uses the horse’s natural three-dimensional movement to support improvements in posture, balance, coordination, movement and muscle strength, and can be particularly beneficial for people with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions.
Ground-based activities
The benefits of working with horses don’t stop when the rider leaves the saddle. Grooming, horse-care activities and interactive sessions provide opportunities to develop confidence, communication and social skills, while promoting relaxation, wellbeing and a connection with nature.
