Herefordshire Council is a member of the Creative England’s Filming in England Partnership and in 2016, signed their film friendly charter to welcome filming in Herefordshire and ensure co-operation and commitment to assist film and television production in the county.

Creative England’s Filming in England service are the first port of call for productions looking to film in England, outside of London and works with us to promote and support production companies to use Herefordshire as a location and we are proud of our long-standing connection.
Collaboration is a key aspect of our support, alongside dedicated in house support to ensure a joined-up approach and a single point of contact for productions. We work with a wide variety of partners in the county from the Film Office managed by Herefordshire County BID and Visit Herefordshire to the emergency services, local sector specialists, landowners, businesses, residents, and local community to guarantee support at every stage of production.

Productions in the county include Sex Education (Netflix), Succession (HBO), Midwinter of the Spirit (ITV, Dr Who (BBC), Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing (BBC) and Richard Hammond’s Repair Shop (Discovery+) as well as a range of short films and documentaries.
Most recently the two times Golden Globe winner, and Oscar winning film, Hamnet (Focus Features), filmed on location in Herefordshire and released in the UK in January 2026.
Taking a project to a relatively non filmed area of the country can come with its challenges. However, from the moment that I first contacted Herefordshire Council, we received the upmost support with this project. Herefordshire Council and Herefordshire County BID attended site recces, online meetings and provided us with the necessary Council contacts to ensure that we could maximise our time spent in the county...
.. guaranteed that liaison between myself, my team and the relevant highways, roadworks and street work departments were all in place and we felt supported throughout. We filmed at multiple locations across the county and received wonderful local support...
